I have sorted your pics. All wide pics have had width resized to 450px, long pictures to 300px. Basically what you had done is to upload your pics without resizing them. Your content area is only about 560px, and some of your pics were 3000px plus, and then you squished them into a thumbnail sized container, thus causing the slowness and small images you had. On your computer you should have a photo manipulation programme of some kind to scale the pics down before you send them to wordpress.
